JDRF’s most high profile networking opportunity and most successful
annual fundraiser in the Greater Bay Area. This Black tie event includes
a cocktail reception, presentation of the Living & Giving Award, a
spectacular live auction and Fund A Cure program, gourmet dinner, music and dancing. With 500 attendees, the Hope
Gala is a fun and inspirational event that offers supporters the
opportunity to be socially conscious community leaders who help turn
Type One into Type None.
The JDRF Hope Gala is sold out thanks to our community’s extraordinary support of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.

Fund A Cure Speaker
Jamie Kurtzig
Jamie is a 13 year old from Marin County, California who is deeply
committed to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. She was diagnosed at
age 1 – one of the youngest patients at the time that her doctor had
seen – and she has been advocating and fundraising for a cure ever
since. When she was 4 years old, she had the idea to have a fancy family
gala for all members of the family. This idea evolved into the popular
ROYAL BALL that she and her family lead for 6 years, raising over $1
million for JDRF. Jamie also is a second degree black belt in Taekwondo,
which she started when she was 6 years old. She was elected by her
peers to be the Vice President of her 8th grade class and she is really
enjoying this leadership opportunity at school. She is an entrepreneur
at heart and has started and worked on 2 home grown businesses,
Kurtzeggs (her egg selling business – still going) and WetPads (a custom
waterproof ipad cover company she started when she was 8). She is also
an accomplished violinist and an avid reader. Her dreams are to be a
part of finding a cure for type 1 diabetes and to make a difference in
the world. She loves to spend time and celebrate life with her friends
and family. She is so grateful for your support of her and her family at
the 2018 JDRF Hope Gala.
